Where's all da love at?
As much as I sometimes hate myself for doing it, I've found myself going back to TWoP time and again. It's not that them peoples ain't doing excellent work, it's just that some of them are just so very bitter, or so it seems to me. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love a good bit of snark, and I must agree that there is a lot of crap on tv, but I think what really irritates me is how absolutely brutal they become over some shows.
Take Buffy for instance. When one compares the reviews from older seasons to some of the ones now (most of the ones now), there is a definite difference. The old reviews are half drool-fests and hero-worship, and now they're all bitch bitch bitch. "Oh, this character's different, oh this one too, boo freaking hoo." Gah! I mean, okay, so I may not like some of the character changes either, but what happened to the faith in Joss? I don't care what anyone says, I did like season six too dammit! People used to have so much belief in what Joss was doing, they would give him every benefit of the doubt, even if something was obviously wrong. The old reviews (even the new reviews of old episodes) are all so, so set on recapping with a little humor. The episodes now are all so, I don't want to say catty, but I really do. Sheesh. (And I am fully aware of the irony of this bitch session)
On a side note, is it a bad thing that everytime I hear the song "Reach Out Touch Faith" by Depeche Mode I think of the Faith from Buffy? :P
