Forgetfulness

It's crazy how many times I have something important to write about, yet by the time I get here to write about it, it's completely forgotten. Just gone. It is the rare occurrence when I actually remember it. And yet, I remember just enough to know there's something I don't remember. Blarg!

Also, I caved and bought Pokémon Sun yesterday. I like it so far, but we'll see. Hopefully it will actually have an end game, so I'll be able to keep playing after I beat it. X/Y really didn't. It's interesting that this one doesn't have adjustable 3D. I was going to say actually there, but I say it entirely too much. Anyway, we'll see how it holds up. On an aside, I hope to one day have a version where eevee can evolve into every single element. How cool would a dragon, steel, or ghost eevee be?

My copy of Moon came yesterday. I'd tried X on release and gave up because it felt too much like work, to me. (This coming from an Animal Crossing: New Leaf player!) I think maybe I won't worry so much about meta gaming and perfecting things, and just play, see if that helps.

Yeah, I've found it's a lot more fun to not get too much into the minutia. I tend to pick pokémon more on what I like than on ultimate stats. I don't even pay attention to EVs or IVs or any such thing.

LOL I don't even know what those are, although I've at least heard the term, before. Anyway, still taking my time (literally just hit the Trainer School) and have 3 'mon, and am having fun. It's a start!

Hey, you gotta start somewhere. IVs and EVs are basically the (not-so) secret stats and mechanics underlying pokémon. Apparently the "nature" of a pokémon that you can see on the summary screen, such as lax, outgoing, etc. make a difference somehow in how certain stats can level or something. It turns out too that the pokémon you battle against actually contribute to what what numbers increase when you level, so like if you fight a lot of fast pokémon, the next time you level your speed stat might increase by one or two extra points. The punching bag stuff in X/Y and Omega Ruby let you tweak it directly for the first time, but thankfully Sun/Moon put that stuff back into the background so I didn't have to think about it. If I were OCD, pokémon would a nightmare, trying to maximize every single little stat. Other than using vitamins like carbos and irons, I really don't want to have worry about tweaking every little thing. Mostly, I try to get a good covering of all types, as well as ones that I think are cool, and just play. With varying success....

Thanks for the explanation! I think I will keep going as casually as possible, then... if I started micro-managing (and I'm prone to it), I'd probably turn myself off of the game just like last time.
