It comes

I feel its arrival
like a blow to the gut
I wish I could hide
from the growing unease
I feel from inside
yet it comes from without
but like the coming tide
it eats at my stomach
and I wished that it lied
about the approaching storm
and lord knows I've tried
to ignore the signs
but I've screamed and I've cried
because it comes like a blow
and it's far too wide
to avoid

ah cruel fate to be born
in the time of it all
the biggest burdens
are yet to be
