It occured to me as I read another stupid article in the local paper about the trend of burning cds (it said there is one). Anyway, it occured to me that while cd sales are way down because of everyone downloading songs and burning them (not to mention how illegal high priced cds have been since 1995, hence that bigass lawsuit currently in progress), there has to be a break even point somewhere along the line. As less and less people buy the cds, less and less of it will show up online, causing more people to go out and buy the cds rather than search endless hours for a song or two. True, cd sales will probably never be as high as they used to be, but they will never get down to zero because the balance would shift back. Not only that, but if the cd prices go back down, more people will be willing to buy them rather than download for long periods. I know that I would own a lot more cds if the prices were lower, it's just so much easier than the alternative.
