Praise in the Park
Jul. 25th, 2004 10:08 pmSo Kevin and I drove down to the Fort Collins Park to see Praise in the Park. It was quite a big gathering. Something you'd see at a fair sized event really. Several thousand christians all coming together to worship and sing some really killer songs. The speakers were a bit loud, but that's true of any concert type thing. It was rather nice. Plus, the food vendors didn't price gouge anything, and all the church groups were handing free stuff away. I got candy and a free bottle of water, which was keen. I also got a nice bumper sticker for Way FM, although my family really isn't all that big on actually using them... I think my favorite song was the Beethoven song with lyrics, Joyful Joyful or something like that. Although, the irish-y song with the killer fiddle solo was quite impressive. The church that provided the worship band really knows how to party.
In other news, my brother has now departed and is probably already back in 29 Palms. His leave is over, and now has a little less than a month before he ships out to Iraq. I think he gets back in like 7-8 months. I think it's rather funny though, not so much that he's shipping out to Iraq, but how everyone keeps reacting to the fact. Every time we mention where he's heading to, people always act like he's coming back. Of course, he very well may not, but everyone acts like it's so sad. As for me, I don't really care. I mean, if he dies, I know where he's going, which is a place much better than here, and I even told him I'd be jealous if he got to go home first. But we'll see. Hopefully he'll come back, but if he doesn't, not the end of the world.
