Contemplation
Oct. 2nd, 2004 05:30 pmIt never ceases to both intrigue and utterly repulse me the way that technology works. There is, in fact, a term used to describe the seeming moods and actions of a given computer/tech system, which I believe is called a "ghost in the machine" (Where the popular animé of the same name came from to some degree I'd wager). Any given system, by simple virtue of the multitude of both software and hardware systems continually running and interplaying with one another give each machine that we own a sort of pseudo personality as it were. Each computer that we own is going to have the tendency of having it's very own little quirks. There will be odd little, sometimes even amazing, and surprising actions that each one will have, most often unique to itself. Most often, this results at us being thoroughly pissed with our system; something which I find myself in the direction of approach.
