You know, I don't think I've ever really thought about Forrest Gump in any particular manner before when I've watched it. Yet, this time, something has been glaring at me throughout the whole thing. It's probably due to what Brennan Manning said in the Ragamuffin Gospel regarding the simple minded. He spoke of how unassuming they are, how trusting and simply wonderful in their loving nature. There's something to that in watching Forrest. He's trusting, he cares for others without a thought in the world for himself. When someone shows up, he instantly stops what he's doing to go to them. He's unassuming. He cares not for insults. He never hates anyone. He gets angry at injustice, but never holds grudges. He gives much when he is given much. It's just, his entire personality makes me almost yearn for to be one such as him. It's a very odd thing to think about, but I get it. To be as the perfect child is really what it's all about. Interesting thought to me.
