Mmm, book.
Mar. 17th, 2005 03:14 pmI just finished reading The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee the other day, and I have to say, it's completely blown me away. We've been reading about a chapter a week for my bible study group for the past few weeks, but I decided I should just read the whole thing at once as I've had this spring break to do so. I'm so glad I did too. I don't even know how to describe it. I just have the urge to keep saying wow, over and over. Maybe throw in a few Keanu "whoa"s in there too. Seriously, this is probably the most amazing book on the christian faith I've ever read, and probably ever will, you know, except for the bible, but that pretty much goes without saying.
Nee so wonderfully describes the very basics of christianity in such a beautiful way that it has definitely changed the way I'm going to be looking at it. And I love how he uses lines of scripture to really get to the heart of things. I have the urge to buy a ton of copies and pass them out to everyone I know, it's that good; you just have to share it with everyone. The way he stresses the finality of being saved, of how it truly is all done...like I said, it's blown me completely away. I wish I could better explain it, but I don't think I can. It's just one of those things one has to experience too. If anyone ever sees it, I definitely recommend picking it up for a read.
