What's the big deal about doctors?

So I'm watching some show on ABC about online dating or something, and someone mentions how they don't want to let on that they're a doctor, because everyone will come running with engagement rings. I've heard that a lot. People always want to marry doctors, but why? I honestly don't get it. I'd absolutely hate to marry someone who was really in the medical field. I know enough people in the medical field to know that it's a killer on time, as in, they're always working. So maybe it's good money, big whoop. What's the point if you never get to spend time with them? I don't really understand the whole prestige of it either. I'm confused.
