Thoughts in general on AI
Jan. 24th, 2006 10:02 pmI never cease to be astonished by the amount of people who go on American Idol and think they can sing well enough to be a star when they can curdle milk. I mean, I can understand if you're tone deaf simply not being able to realize it, but you'd think someone would tell them at least. Granted, some people are just nervous, but that doesn't count enough for a lot of these people. Unless you can really sing, don't try. I mean, I can sing well enough, but I know my limitations, so you'll never ever see me up there trying. If I know enough to know I can quaver on some notes, or can't hit a few specific pitches, why can't they figure out even that much?
And despite the fact that the judges could be handing out more constructive criticisms, that still excuses no one of their attitudes when they're rejected. I mean, come on, have none of you watched the show? If they say you're not all that, then you're not all that. Hell, even if you were, who are you to brag? Inflated heads only ever make things worse. Yes, the judges can be harsh, but you knew this already. It's bad sportsmanship to stalk out of the place shouting obscenities left and right, even if there isn't a camera in your face.
Oh, and that little bit tonight with Simon and the DVD? Priceless.
