Well, that was certainly retarded.
Mar. 27th, 2006 10:28 pmSince I actually had a job this past year, for all of six weeks, I decided to file my taxes this year. Seeing as how computers is how I roll, I decided to just file them online. I have like half a dozen boxes to fill out, so how long can it take, right? *headdesk* Dude, it took like 45 minutes, and I didn't even get to file them. First of all, the irs doesn't actually do it themselves. You have to go through a third party, so I used turbo tax. What I didn't know, and still don't quite understand, is that while filing is free, they are somehow allowed to charge $20 for a "state preparation fee", whatever the hell that really means. In other words, it's not free to do it online. Ugh, all that for nothing. Sometime this week, I'm going to the library, picking up the ez1040, and filling out the damn thing, which should take maybe 15 minutes. *grumbles*
