Golly gee willikers.
Oct. 23rd, 2006 10:27 pmOr something. So I'm back from my CS conference/symposium dealy. It was a long weekend. It was slightly interesting, but I wouldn't do it again. Missing class as well as the weekend so there's no time to make up for it is not something I'd like to do again. I caught up a little today, but not fully. Anyway, the conference itself was rather small, about 50 people in total. There were a few interesting bits, and a bit more boring ones, though the boring ones did lead to some really cool doodles on my notepad. If I could just scan them onto the computer... Anyway, I did present my senior project, or what I've done thus far, and managed to beat out all the other student presenters to win. It really helped being the only student presenting, I think. I did get some money from winning, and it covers about 2/3 of my half of the hotel bill, so I still end up, for the moment, in the hole on this one. Ah well. I was quite surprised how few of the CS profs knew much at all about Python. It's like the largest growing language in the CS world, yet most of them were all about Java, which I happen to know is somewhat dying in the actual world. So odd.
