Okay, so just a bit ago we got a call from a rather odd number. First of all, it was an area code 998, which I didn't recognize. Second, it was a recorded message that did not in any way identify the "company" calling. The message said something about calling in regards to "my" credit cards, which I was assured were fine, but that I should do something about getting my interest rates down. Overall, it was a bit suspicious, but then I tried looking up area code 998. It doesn't exist, at least, not in the US. It's reserved for future use and even 1-411 said there's no such area code here. I did find that Cancun has that area code, but I would think a country code should show up or something. Regardless, it seems very fishy to me, so I've been looking for someone to actually talk about it to. I found an 800 number for fraud, but it's in D.C. and it's already past 5pm there. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow. I just wish I could tell someone while it was still fresh on my mind.

Bugger.

I was going to report the phony call tomorrow to the fraud hotline, but I just discovered my dad cleared all the numbers from the caller id. Now I can't report the number. All I have is the area code it came with, but that's hardly a lead. I guess they get off this time.

Me!
