Plastic and Smallville Season One
Sep. 5th, 2007 11:34 pmHas anyone ever simply sat down and considered how amazing plastic truly is? I mean, if you think about all the things we have and use that are plastic, and that couldn't really even exist in any other material, it staggers the mind. Sometimes it's really weird to think about the things that we take for granted, things that are so much a part of our lives that we don't even realize them. It's also really weird that plastic comes from oil. I mean, who would ever possibly think that up?
Also, I have just rented and watched the first two disks of Smallville season one, and I have to remark on how sad I am. The show had so much awesome potential. I think we need to go back and retcon the hell out of it. Granted, they were a bit heavy handed on the writing and acting in the first season (not to mention the ridiculous explanations for the freaks of the week), but it was still really amazing. I particularly love the relationships between the characters, especially Clark and Lana. Yes, I liked Lana then, and I still like her character in season one. They had really good chemistry, but the writers had to go and keep with the incidents that tear them apart and destroy trust, not to mention stretch out the pining for 6 blasted seasons. I mean, damn. They should have let them be a couple. The few moments they have together in the first 8 episodes are unbelievably cute and sweet. I know Whitney got nicer after he stopped being a dick, but it was a needless triangle, and they used it time after time to screw Clark over. Bah!
