You know, the more and more I spend time mulling over the Matrix movies, the more and more I see the deep flaws in logic at their core. Of course, the first has very few such flaws, and I am more and more believing that thing about how the first movie was based off a stolen book/screenplay from some lady, whereas the second and third movies... Don't get me wrong, I still quite like the trilogy; it's just that the errors in logic keep tripping me up.

Specifically, the whole deal with Neo being the Nth One (What was it, 6th, 7th?). Now, it's not quite as cool, him not being the second and final one, but he does really end up being the true One, so that's okay, and I thought the twist quite interesting. In fact, the whole idea of the robots replacing the population of Zion every few years, and them being the ones who kept all the machines of Zion working, that actually makes sense. What doesn't is the comment the architect made about retaking Zion. He said that they had had enough practice to have gotten good at it. If that's true, and it did seem like they knew what to do, where the hell did all the previous holes due to incursion go? If they had drilled and attacked before, why the hell is there no damage? You can't just fill in holes that big. Plus, it's terribly inefficient. It seems more logical that if the architect had truly built Zion, he would have built in back doors into both the computer systems Zion uses, as well as physical back doors, hidden somewhere. This huge computer brain has to waste resources every time it wants to clean the slate? I don't think so.

Also, there has been something bugging me since the first movie. How did the first "One" get out to free people the first time? If he were as weak and as physically incapable as Neo and anyone else who manages to get out, how did the first One survive? I suppose it could be answered that the architect built Zion and all that for the first One, and that's where the cycle started, but I don't know; it just doesn't seem to fit.

Thoughts anyone?
