Poesy

Damn, but I have been a most prolific poet in the past. I have been trudging through the many years archive of my journal here in order to tag all my old fics and poems, and having gone through about half of it thus far, dang. I have written a ton of poetry and had no idea. 2003 in particular seems to have been a veritable well of poetry. A good number of it slightly angsty, sadly, but I must admit that I have actually written some pretty darn good stuff. I by no means thought I was monstrous in my abilities, to be sure, but to go back and see things as if for the very first time, I find myself admirably surprised and pleased. Also of interest to me is that I seem to have a most definite literary/writing style. Regardless of the specific tone or form a particular poem may take, I have discovered that, having now viewed many dozens of them, my poetry does really have a unique, and perhaps recognizable, voice. I'm not sure whether I like the entirety of the voice, but I must surely recognize it as my own. How intriguing.

Too true

In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.
C.S. Lewis from The Abolition of Man
