This, that, and the other.
Jan. 28th, 2013 04:27 pmWhy is it that I can have all these really great ideas to write down when I don't have anything with which to write, but when I sit down to actually do so, all thoughts suddenly flee away? And sometimes, even when I do recall an idea, it just doesn't seem worth writing down? Très bizarre, non? Oh numberpad, how I have missed your presence. A simple alt+130 for an é, a 138 for è, and so on; which, for whatever retarded reason, doesn't work with the numbers up top. I still miss my laptop, though.
I had finally gotten my lappy the way I liked it, and was humming along, and now it won't start up. Based on the things I tried and various web searches, it looks to be an issue of the RAM going bad, which is my hope, as it is the cheapest problem to fix. Sadly, I do not, at present, have even enough for that. I also have to reopen it and figure out if it takes ddr2 ram, or ddr. The web has been of absolutely no help in that arena, with equal numbers saying it does one or the other. So, at present, until I can get money enough to try replacing the ram on my increasingly old laptop, I have to settle for my phone and my parents' laptop. Theirs is much newer than mine, and has the delightful numberpad, but I have to share it, and they both use it quite a lot. I can use my phone for general browsing, but it's not as fast to use for most things. I miss the right mouse button, for one.
Also, I use my laptop on occasion to look up new tabs for my guitar, and that is extremely difficult to do on a phone, particularly when it tends to turn off the screen every minute. It's hard to play when you have to keep scrolling every few notes, too. Added to that that I do not like to do any sort of extended typing on my phone, and my need for functioning laptop continues to grow. If anyone ever wants to give me a brand new laptop, I would totally not say no to that, either (particularly an alienware, ah yeah). :P
It is currently snowing outside my window. Quite a lot, really. I am amused that the temperature actually had to go up by at least 10 degrees for it to do so. I don't think the temp has gotten above 20 for the past week, with the occasional low in the negatives. I need to go look up why our scale has water freeze at 32 degrees, but nothing significant seems to happen at 0. To wikipedia!
Alright, looked it up, and it seems that 0 was the temperature at which brine water froze. Also, water freezing and boiling are 180 degrees apart, which is interesting, as then it can be associated with circles. How odd.
