Oh BBC, get with it.
May. 6th, 2016 10:41 pmLet Dr. Who back on Netflix, dangit! I can watch it elsewhere online, but I'd prefer to go through official channels where I'm actually providing money for something I want. And don't think I'm going to pay for a BBC only streaming service as well. Netflix is the only media I'm currently willing to subscribe my money too. I'm so not going to pay for Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, BBC... Blah. Also, Nickelodeon needs to release their shows back. I do so miss Avatar and Spongebob. Again, things I could watch elsewhere, but wouldn't you rather receive payment?
I just wish the various companies weren't all so greedy. There have been so many great things on Netflix that I may never see again because they wanted way too much money the second time around. If I go any further, I may have to retitle this An Ode to Netflix.
Also, Last.fm has made me increasingly sad over the past year. They were such an awesome radio station, and I loved that anything you listened to on your computer would accumulate in your statistics. I could, and still do, listen to quite a bit of stuff "offline" as it were, and I greatly appreciate that it affects my most popular songs/artists/etc. But other qualities of Last.fm have slowly withered. I'm guessing in large part due to budget, but still. First they stopped simply having all the songs and streaming them, instead just using youtube. It's like, I can already go to youtube, and I'm just listening, what do I need video for? Also, due to the nature of copyright crap, there's a lot of songs that error out because they got pulled or whatever. Also, there are a lot of songs that simply aren't ever on youtube, or are the crappy live versions. I just want a decent radio! Also, they removed their computer app and made it so you have to do it all through the browser.
I think they've been assimilated by Pandora radio recently too. So I can either use the crappy youtube version, or just pay for a Pandora account. Super. I liked my free radio. Free doesn't work well as a business model, of course... I wonder, if I do have to get a Pandora account, if any of my stuff would transfer over. I've spent years of listening to have a highly unique and eclectic library of artists, songs, and recommendations. Whine, moan, complain. First world problems, am I right?
