Okay, so this is one of the funniest things ever, and I can't believe that such a thing has happened right here in Greeley. So I was talking to my friends this morning, and they told me about a news story that is making even statewide news, and it's freaking hilarious. Apparently a group of kids in town has started stealing lawn gnomes about town, and are calling themselves the GLF, or Gnome Liberation Front. It gets better too. Turns out it started with some lady who had like 30 gnomes in her front yard. One got stolen. So she actually went and made a lost gnome poster and wrote on it, get this, that it was lonely and the perpetrators should bring it back or take the rest of them. So naturally, the rest were taken. Apparently other places around town were hit too. They were eventually found broken in a dumpster, which is sad, but I think the idea of the GLF is killer. In fact, we suggested that we make t-shirts. I can't think of anything funnier than to walk around proclaiming on my shirt that, "I support the Gnome Liberation Front", or "Free the Gnomes!"
Looking this up on the web, it turns out that there are a number of groups out there, both in the states and in europe, dedicated to liberating garden gnomes. I am tickled pink, or perhaps some more masculine color, but regardless, I am amused.
