I've had the same experience--people always talk about smells, but there are certain songs that can help me recall very specific (but not necessarily significant) moments, some going all the way back to childhood.
Also possibly related? I remember listening to a new album once when I had a terrible headache. I didn't like it, and later could never like any of it, as if I'd given myself aversion therapy, inadvertently.
