Ah monday.
Feb. 9th, 2004 03:17 pmYou suck.
Anyhoo, it's been a long day for some reason. It just seemed to keep going and going. Got my test back from CS. Got an 85% on it (well, it would have been 72%, but he added 13 points to everyone's test). But blech. Two daunting seeming programs to write this week, as well as a Dr. I test to study for, and his tests are the devil.
Philosophy was okay, I guess. We're reading Descartes right now, which is interesting, albeit very freaking wordy and convoluted. I think like a quarter of the class actually does the reading, which is just retarded. I was wary of Descartes at first, but I like how he's using a logical/scientific way of thinking in order to prove for sure what we can and cannot prove to be true. First he came to the point that the only complete truth we know is that we exist, and simply because we think and can bedeceived. After this, he goes on to prove that there must be a God because we, who are not perfect, can even imagine of something better, which the idea must itself come from God. His point is that something cannot come from nothing, and such, any creation cannot be greater than the creator. The very fact that we can learn and improve ourselves means that we are not infinite, that we are not simply God who has yet to realize it. In other words, simply because we can compare ourselves with some ideal means that we are not it, but that it exists, and it is God. And of course, this completely does not go well with my philosophy teacher. From what she said, I'm betting that on wednesday she will be using everything she can think of to undercut his reasoning in this area, even though she completely agrees with his reasoning up to this point. Her mental bent is so obvious, it's not even funny.
Sociology was a bundle of laughs. We were going to take notes, but the big fancy projector couldn't make a clear enough picture. So he tried lecturing. Boooring. At least Melissa and I got to make some jokes and such. She's really keen. It's a shame she's taken. Ah well.
Oh, and the Linear Algebra test went okay. I think I completely bombed the last question, but whatever.
I'm tired. Stupid monday.
