Hmm.

School starts soon. Next monday, to be precise. I'm rather indifferent at this point, though I expect some form of panic to begin within the next few days or so. There's almost always a dream or two where you can't find your classes or some such. Though, perhaps not so much this time. I'm not really worried about this semester. It's going to be a fun one for me. I don't have any classes that actually count for anything important and I got to choose them all because they looked fun. I think I may go down and get my books today. Should be relatively cheap without any math, cs, or physics books to buy. Only three classes to buy for too.

Also, I'm looking forward to College Life starting up again. I volunteered myself, asking if they needed any help getting things started this year. Turns out, they do. I think I'm now the information officer or something, meaning I have to help make a bunch of fliers, help out at the bazaar on Sunday, and I'll be the one sending out the weekly emails. Yay?

Every time I think I'm going to get off easy on books, bam. First book I got for school today was used for like $17. Not bad I thought. One down, three to go. Surely it can't be too bad, especially as I'm only getting language books, right? Loud claxons to the negative Man. My french book alone cost $134 and I get the feeling that a good portion of that is due to the "special" access we get to some stuff online through the cheap cd they throw in with it. Honestly. I'm always torn between finding each and every person responsible for making these things so expensive and beating them to death with their books, or just writing one or two of my own and raking in the cash. $306 for four books. Thankfully I'm still amused by the irony, and pure bastardry, of the whole situation, but still. I mean, $43 for a soft cover workbook? Outrageous. Such magnificent bastards.

I'm always blown away when I read Watchman Nee. I just read this from one of his books, Spiritual Authority, and had to post it.

Man's actions should not be governed by the knowledge of good or evil; it should be motivated by a sense of obedience. The principle of good and evil is to live according to what is right or what is wrong. Before Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit their right and wrong were in God's hand. If they did not live before God they knew nothing at all, for their right and wrong actually were in God. By taking the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they found a source of right and wrong in other than God himself. Consequently, after the fall men need not find in God the sense of right and wrong. They have it in themselves. This is the result of the fall. The work of redemption is to bring us back to the place where we will now find our right and wrong in God.

Me!
