A random comment on some random website got me to thinking about the state of movies. Things have changed a lot in the last ten years and I'm not entirely sure what, though I have a few ideas. Like the fact that more and more people seem to want to rent movies instead of going to the theater, even though most of us do enjoy going to the theater. The fact remains though, that we simply do not do so. I have to wonder at this. It can't simply be the cost, for movies have always been expensive to go to. I don't think it is altogether that we're glutted with similar movies, because there are often one or two really good and original ones. Of course, the glut is probably a big factor. The same premises over and over gets rather tedious. But I know something else has changed too, though perhaps it is simply that I'm older and don't get quite as excited to see movies. I dunno.

But I do think to back maybe ten-twelve years. I went to movies pretty frequently. Not only that, but they were all so new and interesting. I can remember how a few times a year the local theaters would do double features too. I loved that. People used to stay during the credits too, which I find disconcerting that absolutely no one else seems to anymore. Granted, they are longer... I think perhaps that many of us don't have the time anymore. It's amazing how much faster things seem to move when compared with only a decade ago. Again, part of that is just the part where I'm "grown up" and have more stuff to do, but still. That, and there just aren't the movies they used to make. They were cheesy and disney, but they were really good. Why in my day...

Outcast Genius
52 % Nerd, 60% Geek, 69% Dork

For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being
smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or
subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social
expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in all three, earning you the title of:
Outcast Genius.
Outcast geniuses usually are bright enough to understand what society
wants of them, and they just don't care! They are highly intelligent
and passionate about the things they know are *truly* important in the
world. Typically, this does not include sports, cars or make-up, but it
can on occassion (and if it does then they know more than all of their
friends combined in that subject).
Outcast geniuses can be very lonely, due to their being outcast from
most normal groups and too smart for the room among many other types of
dorks and geeks, but they can also be the types to eventually rule the
world, ala Bill Gates, the prototypical Outcast Genius.
Congratulations!
