Oct. 24th, 2007 10:08 amNot much new of late. Mostly I've just been going to work, trying to get over whatever bug it is I caught a week or two back, and reading one of my favorite series. Alas, my books are read, and the illness is almost over. Lucky I still have my (mom's) ds to keep me busy until work. Been slowly working my way through Final Fantasy 6 for the gameboy advance. It's definitely been tweaked a bit from the original SNES version. As for work, I'm only doing 20-some hours a week as a tutor, but I have to say, it can be quite draining at times. Did I say that before? Anyway, I do enjoy it, but it can be difficult at times when even the most basic of math concepts are not understood.
On an aside, does anyone know any helpful tips for teaching math to someone with a slight learning disability? One of the guys I tutor seems to grasp all the major concepts and can do most of the math pretty quickly, but he seems to have something akin to dyslexia when it comes to writing stuff down. He'll say one thing, bit write something completely different and doesn't even seem to notice the disconnect. Any suggestions?
