Apr. 29th, 2008 10:56 pmHaving just read a brief excerpt by Spurgeon on paranoia, specifically suspicion, it suddenly struck me that paranoia can very much be a means for people to focus on themselves. By this, I mean that while extreme paranoia may be a mental illness, I think that much of the lesser cases are simply people trying to feel important, to feel a part of something. It's somewhat ironic for one who is not often a part of anything to think that everyone is talking about them, or whatever, but it is so. I can look at my own life to see this is true. I am often one feeling on the outside of whatever group of people I happen to be with, and I also happen to be very paranoid at times. Naturally, I must soon laugh at the thought that anyone is ever talking about me when, of course, they hardly ever remember my existence at all (pity party, yay!). But it all makes sense now, that there is a link between the two. How intriguing.
