Gyaa!!! Big spider!

I don't know why, but our basement has had a lot of spiders in it this year. Not that we've been especially killy with them. We've tended to let them build their webs unless it directly affects us. But jeepers creepers, I saw the freakiest ass spider ever a minute ago. Biggest spider I've ever seen. We're talking like silver dollar big. The butt alone was this huge quarter sized gray ball, maybe a tad bigger. Scared the crap out of me. I tried smushing it with the laundry hamper, but it leapt out of the way and scuttled under some stuff. I was too afraid to check after it. Now I'm afraid to go into the basement to get my clothes washed tomorrow...
