Mice

I'm not normally one to complain about animal stuff. I quite like most animals, but I'm pretty much a hater of all things PETA and the like. Still, reading a recent article on yahoo news about all things mice in testing for darn near everything, I am struck with twinge of sorrow. Don't get me wrong, I do not believe animals are on the same level as us, be it in consciousness or otherwise, and I do see the necessity for experimenting on them instead of people, but still, I find it vaguely sad and a little bit disturbing. I mean, the breed some lab mice to get tumors, and cancer, and epilepsy, and who knows what else. So many mice born for the specific intent of the worse things we can subject them too. Granted, they do get fed well, and have nice cages and such, but... I dunno, it came over me suddenly as I read, the overall terrors, as such, that we inflict upon all those little critters, just so we can make our lives a little bit longer or easier. God gave us the animals to look over, to be rulers of in some cases, but does that give us the right to do what we do to them? I'm not sure there is an answer to be had in my lifetime.
