This Thurs-di-day is definitely becoming one of downtrodden thought, a bit of moping, and general craptacularness.
The major part of this day which annoys me has occured because I have a lot of boring homework, followed up by some ear-bleeding fun that is studying for a test in Computer Science that will most likely rip out my major organs and do a little flamenco or jig on them.
Compounding the dread thought of all this actual work that needs doing, the air smells funny. Now why would this matter, you may ask. Well, you have some nerve there mister, but I shall forgive you this once. :p Anyhoo, the air has an unfamiliar acrid tang like that of metal and plastic burning, or something to that effect. Now, the smell in itself doesn't mean a whole lot - we get a lot of weird smells in a town that has a beef rendering plant and a sugar beet factory - but what has me pondering is that this happens to be Greeley, Colorado. This of course means jack to pretty much anyone, so I shall enlighten you. Greeley is small college/farm town of ~80,000 people in the northern most part of Colorado, and is well known for the horrific smells that occasionally come from the cow killin' plant. However, we very well could be, oddly, a primo target, should terrorists ever decide to blow something up in the middle of these here states. It is surprising to imagine it, but there is actually several very good reasons why we might be a target, almost on par with the air force base in Colorado Springs, and even Denver. The first reason is that there is a rather large amount of nuclear waste left over from the converted nuclear plant only a few miles off. The second, and almost as disturbing, fact is that one of the major father's of terrorism, Quttab something or other, who wrote texts that people like Bin Laden (I really could care less about spelling for names here) follow, got much of his knowledge of how evil we are and how we need to be dead from coming to this here town back in the 50's I think it was. The man came to the college here, found americans utterly inappropriate, and left to write books on how bad we are. The thing is, he repeatedly names Greeley in his texts, and while I realize that Greeley probably is too small for anyone to consider as a potential target, there is always the possibility that it might be because it could be seen as some particular example or something. Stupid smell for making me think stuff.
