I had an interesting, not to mention very vivid, dream the other night. I don't often feel the need to write down details of my dreams very often, but I feel that it could make for an interesting fic at some later date, so I shall. It will need to be fixed up at some point, as there were transitions in the dream that made sense only in the dream, but overall, I quite find it intriguing.

Basically, the course of my dream took place on some distance space station, a place, according to one of the main characters, not often visited by people, and that for very good reason. For general understanding, my dream seemed to take certain subject matter from both star trek and star wars, yet was highly original for all of that. Anyway, it began with my two (I think) main characters speaking about the station, regarding it as an excellent hiding place from whoever is after them. The second character seems of little incidence and disappears not long after, not being of any use to my brain, I guess. The main character is an older man, knowledgeable, wise and canny; perhaps a bit like Obi-wan. Not too far into the dream, he becomes more solid and becomes much more like Sisko from star trek deep space nine, at least in appearance. Though now I wonder if they are not different people, happening upon the same port, the story swiftly jumping from the first to the second.

Regardless, the story really begins when the characters stroll into this space port, and the man makes note that this place is not often frequented by humans/people, because the inhabitants, lite-grey and bald, slender humanlike people, eat other races. They hunger ever for flesh and the blood, and we can see that these passing humans catch the eyes of every nearby creature. The man approaches some sort of vendor, of information or items, and bargains for something using a severed and dry hand.

The scene shifts suddenly here, to center on a mostly empty room, used for sending messages. The man, now more looking like the Sisko character, is sending a fake message, feigning sending it under the duress of gunfire. The message is sent to the man's "master", who doesn't actually exist, but the message is meant to be intercepted by the enemy as bait. It acts accordingly, and swiftly a large ship approaches the station. The ship looks exactly like a star destroyer from star wars, and I think the message was intercepted by Vader, but these are the only star war elements. Meanwhile, one of the aliens enters into conversation with the man, trying to understand some of our odd human thinking.

As the ship approaches, the populous of the station begins to shift and change shape. There is at least as much green now as there is grey, and there are so many different shapes, though there seems to be a large number in the shape of giant caterpillars. At this point in the dream, I saw myself, the human or two next to me, and the countless mass surrounding us, all of us on the inside rim of flat, circular rim. Across the wheel, amidst the mass, stood a tremendously large green creature, so strong that we could feel his need, drawing at us. So strong, in fact, that blood started coming from the pores on our faces and heads, and began to float in blobs across the distance to him. We quickly moved, lest we lose it all. We felt no malice from the creature, merely a strong will to have some.

The scene fast-forwards to an intersection of several hallways, the point held by our group. There seems to be a handful more of humans now, though where they came from... One of them looks like Dax from deep space nine. Why the heck I would pick characters from a show I rarely ever watch is really weird. Anyway, there is also the man and his now friend, the alien.

They are holding, and faring so-so. There is more to the aliens of this port than just hunger for blood. They actually grow, in size and power, and mature as they feed. The stronger ones take more human shape, but they all can transform their forms into many shapes, often stabbing tendrils and the like. The alien befriended to the man is growing more powerful, but fails in saving the man from one particular attack. As he falls, the man stares at the alien, and in that glance gives himself for the alien to feed on (the aliens don't feed by mouth, merely sucking out the life through any part of themselves). The alien is moved and does so, gaining much more than a regular feeding in the process. It turns out that a gift of a little blood, and more so of a whole life, willingly given conveys upon these aliens a much stronger blending than that which normally occurs for them. The alien suddenly realizes the awesome gift his people have, one of growing ever more knowledgeable and perhaps wiser. Suddenly he finds himself assuming a human form, unable for the time being to change form.

But it is not the form of the man he assumes, but the that of the woman standing nearby, the second in command, not because she is there, but because the man so willed it when he gifted himself. This confuses the alien, and he asks the woman why he looks like her (though he still has a voice more his own than hers). She responds that she supposes the man willed her form because he thought it would better help the alien to have her abilities. Not only that, but the alien already had what he needed from the man, had the proper mindset from observing the man. I got the feeling that the woman had some sort of psychic/empathic ability. The alien suddenly realizes that it cannot change form, and believes it to be a mental lock, in place until some important epiphany is reached. And thus ended the dream.
