Sarcastiquotes needed. Trying to set up the dreamwidth was a lot harder than it should have been, especially since I thought I already had it set up ages ago. Turns out just making an account by signing in with my lj liveID or whatever it's called didn't actually do anything. It acted like half an account, only able to subscribe to other accounts, but I couldn't post or anything. What I really wish is I could just import my lj over here, part and parcel. I'm trying to figure out if cross-posting will actually work like I want it to. I know lj has been getting less and less fun over the past few years, hence the move over here, but it's not like I want to let go of all the old entries and such. Ah well.

I have to wonder what's up with the whole Russian thing on lj the last few years. All I know is I've been on it for more than a decade now, and it's fairly dead. Not that I ever had the most active of friends list to begin with, but yeesh. I'd like to have a reading list that actually had an entry once or twice a month... Not to mention how many abilities that lj has been stripping away. Blech.

I've never really got into LJ. I tried it back when I was in High School with a friend, but we ended up migrating to InsaneJournal. I've made a lot of friends there that have actually migrated here too. I always enjoy meeting new people, so thanks for the add!

I looked, and I've been with livejournal since 2002, which is so crazy, but in the past years it just dried right up. I think the nail in the coffin for me was when they screwed with the friends page and wouldn't show any entries older than a week or two. I was told this was the place to be, so I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, I've been on InsaneJournal since 2003 but it's not the same as it use to. It seems that everyone has migrated here over time. I've been part of DW since... I dunno.

Apparently I opened up this journal 2-3 years ago, but just never did anything with it. In the past few days I've already had more interaction with people than in the past few years of lj... Kind of wishing I did this earlier, but oh well. C'est la vie.

i was an early adopter with DW (i'm actually the one who created the Teeny Tinies theme! but i don't go by that username anymore for reasons) and was especially active from 2007 to 2011. i disappeared for a while because of some major drama in my life. and now i'm back. :P again, with a different username. i would post the names here, but i don't want them to be public. :P maybe i'll write an entry about it...

anyway! all of that to say! i have always loved dreamwidth. they managed to get the community thing just right, where LJ kind of dropped the ball and made it more "us against them". i hate LJ. :P

and what IS with all the russian stuff over there???? i don't know if that's even still a thing but wow. i remember when it was. it was part of the reason i left.

LJ has too many reasons not to stay there anymore, but I also don't want to abandon my journal there, since I've been there since 2002. So I crosspost there, but don't really ever visit. There are so many old good entries there that I don't want to abandon. Some fic, some poems and such that I don't want to forget. Perhaps I will just go copy them and repaste them in an entry or two here. Dunno.

I had no idea you could do such a thing. I will have to look into it soon. I like the idea of having the old journal around for the sake of an epic timeline, but more important is some of the specific ideas I had, so downloading them is definitely something I want to do.

yeah, i mentioned it not so much for the end goal of deleting your LJ, but so you have a copy that's not dependent on their servers. dw lets you download your journal, too, i believe. if you google it, you'll find all kinds of ways to download your LJ. :D
