So I am now in Cali. It's been an interesting transition, but thankfully not a terrible one. I was hoping ever so that the house I'd be moving into wouldn't be a hole, and I am so very, very glad to say that it is quite the opposite; it is a really nice one. Large living room with vaulted ceilings, everything's fairly new and, best of all, my roommates are overall a marked improvement over my previous ones. This area is crazy with people from everywhere. Two of my roommates are actually from Colorado, so nothing much different there but, of the other three, two are from South Africa, and the third is from Australia. This church has probably more nations represented than any other I've heard of.
The amusing thing is that my biggest mental hurdle to this whole transition has been the lack of a King Soopers in this town. Kroger is fairly huge brand, so to not find any of their stores here is taking some getting used to. There's no Whole Foods either, but I'm not all that surprised at that one. There is a Trader Joe's here, which is nice, but it's a bit small, limiting what is available.
