It's a funny thing, being a christian. More importantly, it's a funny thing in the difference between being one and not being one. I watch things a lot, often gaining nothing from doing so, except the occasional, "Why the hell are you staring at me?!", but I do occasionally obtain knowledge from such things. One thing in particular I've noticed, but haven't really thought about enough to figure out what I've noticed is this difference. It's the way in which we versus others treat the world, treat any given situation that may present itself to us. It is a given that none of us are perfect, nor even better, but there is a completely different outlook on life in general for those true christians in my life as opposed to, well, everyone else.

Being a guy, I tend to notice the girls a bit more than the guys, so I also notice the difference between the girls a bit better. And there is one. I sit by some very nice girls in one of my math classes. They're friendly, often funny, and just overall pretty nice. But they're not christians, and it shows to one who notices such things. For one thing, when stress rears its ugly head, they tend to swear a bit more, tend to get a bit more mean (not to me of course, I'm the perfect gentleman...), especially in regards to the teacher. As C.S. Lewis said, it is when the niceties of life have been stripped away that we start seeing people as they are. When things go well, we can all be pretty decent and happy people. And then I look at a few of the christian girls I know. Quite a few are actually less, I dunno, cheerful, on a regular basis, sometimes they're a bit harder on themselves, but when the same type of tough situations come up, they almost seem to perk up more. It's like we strive under pressure and woe or something. The harder things get, I notice just how much better christians seem to handle things. There is a deeper strength there, a deeper sense of joy I guess.

It's kind of hard to describe really, but if one takes the time to really start looking at people and how they react in any given situation, there are differences. There seems to be more deference in christians at times, although there can also be a great deal of indefference to other things as well. We just tend not to defer to the same things as other people. Sometimes anyway. *ponders*
