Mispronunciation

I have this huge pet peeve where I can't stand when people repeatedly mispronounce a word. The word of note for me is chipotlé. When people pronounce it chipolté, I lose my shit. I had a roommate for the last year that would often go there to eat, and never once said it correctly. I wanted to yell every time...

(I always say "Chip-pot-lee" on purpose...you would probably hate it.)

It's funny, but I'm less annoyed when people do something wrong on purpose. In order to intentionally do something wrong, you have to know as much. And it's pronounced chih-pote-lay. It has the accented é, just like in pokémon (another huge annoyance of mine where people pronounce it ee instead of ay).

Okay! That's good to know! I was never sure if it was "chih-pote-LEE" or "chih-pote-LAY" and that was actually why I started saying "chih-pot-lee". LOL I knew that was at least ALTOGETHER wrong. :P The pokémon connection is going to help tremendously with that in the future. ;) (Although, I learned something there too, just now, because I always said "poke-uh-mon", more than "poke-ay-mon"....)

I would much prefer people pronounce it Poke-uh-mon than Poke-ee-mon. It just grates on the ears something fierce.
